hat as a reward.
In High School Tia was the first female to receive a Varsity Letter for
Golf. Tia played in several amateur tournaments, one in Hamilton and one
in Albany in 1976, winning a second place cup.
Tia did not play much golf after high school but took it up again more
seriously after she married in 1982. Tia is a very accomplished golfer
and has won many tournaments. Some of the highlights of her career are:
Plattsburgh AFB Champion in 1983, 1984 and 1985; Tampa MacDill AFB

set course records at Plattsburgh AFB and MacDill AFB. At MacDill Tia
shot a 69 on 10/31/90.
Recently Tia has been a member of the Northeast Women’s Golf Association
(NEWGA) playing tournaments all over the capital district. Tia also
served on NEWGA’s Board of Directors for the past several years.
Tia’s most memorable golfing experience was when she assisted Chi Chi
Rodriguez in Tampa at a golf clinic on the base. Tia also had the
pleasure of sitting next to Chi Chi that evening at dinner.
Tia lives in Cobleskill with her husband Flash and daughters Sandy and
Katie.
